Alicia is rewarded and punished for her competence when she is chosen by Stern to be his beard as he represents himself against drunk driving/assaulting a police officer charges. Stern was something of a hero of hers when she was a student, but he is not forthcoming about his arrest and is altogether difficult and scatterbrained. Alicia, of course, puts him in his place and saves his ass while figuring out (with Kalinda's help) that he has dementia. She calls him out on it but she can't tell anyone else due to client confidentiality. He decides to leave Lockhart and Gardner to start his own firm and wants Alicia to come with. She says no because she's loyal to Will.
Her personal life is seriously ugly this week. Peter's call girl Amber Madison (perfect name for the character) is making rounds on talk shows, writing a book and calling Alicia at work. The kids watch her talk about the things she did with their dad. It's scandalous and detailed and pretty disgusting, although Zach has some skeevy girl wanting him because of it. After seeing the girl, Grandma goes through Zach's room and throws the illicit Peter material away. Just throws it down the garbage shoot for any one to see. When she tells Alicia about the girl, Zach gets his computer moved out to the living room, which will seriously put a crimp in his investigative efforts. Alicia visits Peter and begs him to make Amber stop, whatever it takes. Peter and his lawyer handle Amber neatly and coldly by threatening to tell a scary criminal that she talked about him, effectively threatening her with physical danger. She obviously has a thing for Peter and thought he loved her, but she is struck down by his ruthlessness and willingness to destroy her. He gets his reward when Alicia comes to visit him and gives him a significant, romantic kiss on the lips.
